Job description

As a DevOps Engineer of our team, you will be at the helm of supporting a plethora of home and TV/media platforms and features using Agile development processes. This team is a part of our Future Friendly Home Services DevOps team, which is responsible for the end-to-end technology development and operations of TELUS services, video and over-the-top services, broadband network capabilities, smart home solutions, and software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) solutions.

Key job responsibilities

  • You will support a video platform/microservices deployed on clusters
  • You will support a platform/microservices deployed on OCP and GKE clusters and using Galera DB, Cassandra and ElasticSearch
  • You will troubleshoot the platform microservices using Dynatrace or other monitoring tools
  • You will work cross-functionally to define SLAs and setup the proper monitoring and alerting to minimize downtime
  • You will deploy new microservices into the platform to offer new features to our customers
  • Operational processes and procedures are part of your DNA
  • Work with cloud-native technologies, combining the modern technologies, practices, and products into a cohesive platform to enable world-leading software development.
  • You will provide an indication of the effort needed to implement the necessary solutions based on your proactive operational observations.
  • You will manage on-call schedules and escalation processes.


Qualifications

  • 5 - 7 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer
  • Minimum 2 years or hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure; AWS/GCP
  • 1+ years of experience of Javascript/Typescript, NodeJs, Java/J2EE
  • Experience with container management and microservices architectures: Docker / Kubernetes
  • Expertise in one or more of Jenkins / Gitlab / Bamboo / GoCD
  • Experience in Cloudformation / terraform. Cloudformation preferred
  • Expertise in one or more of Puppet / Ansible / Chef
  • Experience in scaling applications
  • Experience monitoring and troubleshooting databases (MySQL)
  • Experience with GitHub Actions / Bitbucket / Artifactory
  • Linux, Windows
  • Strong working knowledge of Cloud operational best practices.
  • Expertise in Monitoring distributed systems application architectures
  • Exposure to & maintenance of configuration management tools at scale
  • Diagnosing & troubleshooting user-facing service incidents & outages
  • Exposure to system & application level telemetry for large distributed cloud architectures
  • Diagnosing, and resolving problems in high-throughput web applications & network services
  • Expert level troubleshooting skills across different levels of the solution stack
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical ability.
  • Excellent organizational/time management skills.
  • Participation in training and information-sharing activities.
  • Ability to implement highly scalable and complex solutions
  • Solid understanding of application clustering/load balancing concepts and technologies
  • Understanding of Security best practices.
  • Able to excel in a distributed team environment
  • Ability to work on-call as part of a team
