We have a vacancy for an experienced Operations Director, with exceptional leadership, organisational, judgement and teamworking qualities, to join our PoGo Charge Team to Head up the EV delivery for our business.
This position is responsible for overseeing the implementation of corporate strategic direction in the area of design, project delivery, stock control, charge point network performance, and general operations. It is also responsible for ensuring that efficiencies of scale are realised, and P&L and budgets are met and maintained. This position will oversee the implementation of best practices throughout the organisation, and ensure an operations strategy and development roadmap is continually being developed and implemented.
This position reports to the Managing Director at PoGo. This position requires a close working relationship with the Network Development Director, Commercial Team, and shared departments in SWARCO such as finance, warehouse & logistics, and field support.
The role would have direct responsibility for Pre-construction, Construction, Design, Network Management, Stock, and Procurement.
The position is based anywhere in the UK but will require monthly review meetings in Hemel or London, therefore the ability to travel and overnight stays are a requirement. As well as travel and customer/site visits nationally within in the United Kingdom (excluding Northern Island is required).
Some Of What You Will Do
- Responsible for overseeing the development of efficiencies of scale in all departments
- Responsible for leading the operations strategy and ensuring that we are expanding our team in line with network growth
- Responsible for co-ordinating overall implementation of BEST practices throughout the structure
- Provides regular analysis of P&L within the operations department (provided by finance but will need to interpret monthly)
- Participates and supports annual appraisal process for all operations staff leaders
- Participates in special projects and initiatives as required by the MD
- Oversees Health & Safety of all staff
- Institute processes and procedures that will show improvements in speed of deployment and productivity of staff
- Build relationships with our strategic clients to handle all issues, receiving feedback on our performance and to discuss performance improvement processes
- Attendance of required meetings and conference calls
- Oversee management of sub-contractors (including spend) and other members of the organisation (including Manufacturers and Suppliers) to meet delivery targets of required equipment
- Understanding of the opposition strategy related to service and service pricing
- Communicate a clear vision of the future direction and role of the team
- Monitoring and reduction of operating costs and working within agreed budgets
- Oversee staff development and training
- Direct the Network Manager with developing the PoGo network into a gold standard operating network
- Develop measures and ideas for ensuring our EV drivers have a high quality experience when visiting our charging stations
- Overseeing stock control and making sure that stock is well managed
In order to fulfil the role successfully the following are some of the key skills and experience required:
Education/Experience
- Three years project delivery management required
- Five years experience in overall management required
- General business knowledge
- Specific and detailed knowledge of managing a field-based operation
- Knowledge and experience in creating competitive advantage through a service organisation

- Ability to leverage I.T. to create a productive and accountable organisation
