Job Description:
Changing Our World is expanding our management team and is seeking a visionary leader to help shape the future and growth of our Nonprofit Practice.
As Principal, Nonprofit Practice, you will be responsible for overseeing our team of fundraising consultants who partner with our clients to help strengthen revenue strategies, develop innovative partnerships and grow to meet the demands of our changing world. The Principal will be responsible for managing and working with our Nonprofit Practice team to ensure clients are provided full lifecycle support – from pre-engagement to implementation and project conclusion and reporting. This person will provide strategic direction and operational management on a day-to-day basis to ensure the Nonprofit Practice is organized and executes to maximize efficiencies and effectiveness to positively impact client retention, growth, and satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will also play a key role in the management and oversight of a diverse portfolio of clients, as well as assume responsibility for identifying and securing new business opportunities and growing relationships with existing partners.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership for the Nonprofit Practice, ensuring alignment with organizational goals & objectives as well as fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration & innovation.
- Monitor and manage the financial objectives of the fundraising practice, including forecasting.
- Work with client teams to understand and interpret client needs, design relevant scopes of work, monitor client progress, and ensure overall client expectations are met and surpassed.
- Draw on past experiences, knowledge, and the latest research and industry trends to contribute thoughtful, creative and strategic value to our clients.
- Ensure the Nonprofit Practice maintains client service standards across our client teams including high-quality deliverables, and excellent relationship management.
- Serve as the manager for our team of fundraising consultants, providing guidance, constructive feedback, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the business development skills of team members.
- Identify skill gaps and partner with Leadership to regularly assess staffing needs across the division. Drive revenue growth through effective client engagement, client retention and growth, and expansion of the client base.
- Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with leading organizations and thought leaders; leverage personal networks to identify and pursue opportunities for business development. Develop proposals, present/pitch to prospective of clients and negotiate contract terms.
- Play a lead role in setting and executing the strategy for business development, thought leadership and marketing.
- Represent Changing Our World within the nonprofit industry and contribute to the firm’s thought leadership activities, while supporting the Nonprofit Services team in doing the same.
- Willingness and ability to travel regionally, nationally, and internationally as required.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- 10+ years of professional experience as a fundraising leader with a proven track record of success.
- Consulting experience strongly desired, experience managing consulting teams a plus.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing high-performing teams and fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
- Deep knowledge of fundraising and philanthropy trends and best practices; understanding of corporate responsibility and ESG landscape a plus.
- Expertise in major gift program development and design, and campaign management.
- Ability to both think critically as well as synthesize complex levels and types of information and/or data in order to provide client solutions.
- Exceptional interpersonal communications skills; ability to establish rapport with others.
- Strong confident public speaker and facilitator.
- Consultative, strategic sales approach; ability to develop and nurture professional relationships, and ability to think strategically about potential lead sources.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including full competency in Excel and PowerPoint) to create professional and easy to digest client deliverables.
- Flexible and willing to travel, as required.
