Your mission
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be instrumental in building and scaling the operations of a fast-growing startup at the forefront of Germany's Energiewende (energy transition). The COO will take charge of setting up the foundational structures, processes, and teams required for scalable growth, while driving operational excellence. This role demands a leader with a proven track record in developing high-performing teams, designing efficient operational frameworks, and utilizing data-driven approaches to optimize performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Team Setup & Leadership:
     Build and lead a high-performing operations team from the ground up. Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance goals, ensuring the team is positioned for both immediate success and long-term growth. Develop a leadership pipeline through structured development and mentoring programs.
  • Process Design & Scalability:
     Develop, implement, and refine scalable processes that ensure operational efficiency across all functions, including supply chain, logistics, and customer service. Ensure that systems and structures can support the company's rapid growth and adapt to market changes.
  • Operational Excellence:
     Manage and oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth execution of business activities while continuously identifying areas for improvement. Collaborate closely with the CEO and leadership team to align operations with the company’s strategic vision.
  • Scalability Focus:
     Set up the necessary frameworks, systems, and tools to ensure that the company can scale efficiently without sacrificing quality. Establish performance benchmarks, monitor KPIs, and utilize data to drive operational decisions.
  • Analytical Decision Making:
     Use structured, data-driven approaches to make informed decisions and optimize operations. Regularly review and analyze operational metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for increased productivity and growth.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
     Partner with other departments (e.g., Product, Sales, Marketing, and Finance) to ensure cohesive operational strategies and seamless integration of new processes across the organization.
Your profile
  • Experience:
    • 5-8 years of experience in operations management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, ideally within the energy or renewable sector.
    • Demonstrated experience in building teams, setting up operational processes, and scaling operations in a fast-paced startup environment.
    • Familiarity with the German market and deep understanding of the Energiewende landscape.
  • Leadership Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities, with experience in hiring, structuring, and developing high-performance teams.
    • Ability to establish a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
  •  Analytical & Structured Approach:
    • Highly analytical mindset with a structured approach to solving problems. Experience in designing and implementing data-driven operational frameworks.
  •  Communication & Collaboration:
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and align stakeholders across different departments and levels of the organization.
  •  Language Proficiency:
    • Fluency in German and English is required.
