Position Summary:
The Director of Business Development & Sales is responsible and accountable for driving new business growth and achieving sales targets for Mevion Medical Systems Inc.'s product portfolio within the assigned geographic area. This role involves developing and executing sales strategies, building strong customer relationships, and meeting targets related to sales volume, market penetration, and selling price.
Essential Functions:
- Strategic Sales Leadership:
a. Assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue goals and expand market share in partnership with the SVP Commercial Development, NA.
b. Identify and prioritize target accounts, conducting thorough market research and analysis.
c. Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in healthcare organizations, including, but not limited to, C-suite executives, physicians, and administrators.
d. Collaborate with marketing and product management teams to develop effective sales collateral and messaging.
2. Sales Execution and Management:
a. Own the entire sales cycle, from prospecting to closing deals, ensuring efficient and effective sales processes for all assigned accounts.
b. Conduct sales presentations showcasing the value of Mevion's products to customers.
c. Negotiate contract terms and pricing with customers, securing profitable deals within the parameters of Mevion’s sales and profit margin strategy.
d. Accurately forecast sales and manage the sales pipeline, providing regular updates.
3. Business Development:
a. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including partnerships, collaborations, and strategic alliances aligned with our corporate objectives.
b. Stay abreast of industry trends and competitor activities and proactively apply towards sales strategy.
c. Represent Mevion at industry events, conferences, and trade shows in a way to further our brand and potential pipeline.
4. Additional Responsibilities:
a. Prepare and submit sales reports and other documentation as required.
b. Travel as needed to meet with customers, key stakeholders, and attend industry events.
Education, Training, and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred; or equivalent experience and training.
2. Proven track record of success in sales within the medical device or healthcare industry.
3. Strong understanding of the healthcare landscape and buying processes.
4. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
5. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal and external stakeholders.
6. Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset.
Physical and Environmental Considerations:
1. Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
