Job description

Latitude is seeking a Civil Litigation Attorney to join a prestigious boutique law firm in Boston, MA on a part-time basis. Interested candidates should have at least 3-5 years of civil defense litigation experience, preferably in business litigation and/or commercial real estate, including preparing cases for trial, representing clients in court, and managing all phases of the litigation process. Candidates must have a proven ability to handle cases independently. Excellent academic credentials, written and oral advocacy skills are a must. Candidates must be licensed and in good standing in Massachusetts. The is a remote position but candidates must live near Boston, MA in order to be able to attend court appearances and depositions as needed.

Responsibilities of the MA-Barred Civil Litigation Attorney:

  • Handling a caseload of litigation matters, developing legal strategies, and preparing cases for trial
  • Conducting discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and other discovery documents
  • Preparing and arguing motions, attending hearings, and participating in settlement negotiations
  • Representing clients in court, including trials, hearings, and appeals
  • Maintaining regular communication with clients to provide updates on case progress and explain legal strategies
  • Working closely with senior attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to manage cases
  • Collaborating with expert witnesses, consultants, and other professionals to support case strategy and development

Requirements for the MA-Barred Civil Litigation Attorney:

  • 3-5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably at a large law firm
  • Business litigation and/or commercial real estate experience preferred
  • Licensed to practice and in good standing in Massachusetts
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and excellent academic credentials
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, professional law firm setting
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills

Position Details of the MA-Barred Civil Litigation Attorney:

  • Type of Role: Engagement
  • Schedule: Part-time
  • Location: Remote (but must reside near Boston, MA)

Compensation

  • Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $130,000-$175,000 when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, and market supply/demand.
  • Benefits: In addition to pay, all Latitude Attorneys and other legal professionals working on contract engagements receive complimentary professional liability insurance coverage. All Latitude employees (including those on contract engagements) are also eligible for full benefits when working 20+ hours per week, including group medical, dental, and vision insurance, and complimentary group life, LTD and AD&D insurance. A qualified 401K plan is also available. Benefits-eligible Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.
