Position Overview

CWT Meetings & Events is seeking a Sourcing Specialist.

Responsible for researching, selecting, and negotiating best-in-class venue options for clients while upholding M&E sourcing standards and successfully tracking to SLAs.

Position Description

  • Support Strategic Meetings Management and Venue Sourcing procurement clients through utilization of the Cvent tool as described by client agreement. Such support will include but is not limited to, conducting hotel space searches for 100% of the workload through Cvent. Complete understanding of the functionality of Cvent in order to advise and educate client users.
  • Negotiate best possible rates and program concessions for the component of SMM Procurement, leveraging client-supplier relationships, and utilizing processes and procedures outlined in the client agreements.
  • Be knowledgeable of the client contract process, and their legal addendums, ensuring the client is appropriately informed of and represented in all terms and conditions contained within.
  • Build and maintain strong client knowledge by attending weekly conference calls to further define; and re-define processes and procedure
  • Proactively escalate potential client or supplier issues to the manager / Account Director / IR for resolution. Involve the client where appropriate.
  • Stay current with supplier agreements, relationships, and industry trends through attendance at weekly team meetings, supplier presentations, educational trips, and industry trade shows.
  • Provide guidance and offer recommendations to team members not actively involved in SMM Procurement on a daily basis.
  • Fully support the larger Strategic Travel & Event Procurement team through workload sharing, and brainstorming opportunities.

Salary Range between USD 66,000 - USD 70,000 yearly

Qualifications

Position Requirements

Education

College diploma or degree in a related field.

Experience

Minimum 3 years of current relative Sourcing and Meeting Planning experience required.

License or Certification

CMP designation is an asset. Formal project management designation/training an asset.

Knowledge

Knowledge of web-based registration tools is a plus.

Skills

Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Proven negotiating skills. Strong financial acumen. Strong multi-tasker who works well under pressure.

Abilities

Proven ability in project management. Ability to remain calm and composed under stressful situations. Ability to travel as required.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Occasional (5-10%) travel may be required.
