In the Department of Biomedical Sciences, we are seeking the recruitment of a talented faculty member who will join our diverse team of professional educators and scientists and make a contribution to enhance our working and learning environments and further enrich the student experience in preparing our DVM graduates to face the global opportunities and challenges of veterinary medicine in the 21st century.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching: ≥50%

  • Contribute and participate in teaching of Gross Veterinary Anatomy in the DVM and Veterinary Preparatory Programs by:
  • Interactive clinically based anatomy dissection laboratory sessions
  • Clinically relevant gross anatomy lectures
  • Preparation or supervision of preparations of specimens for teaching purposes

Research: <50%

  • Develop an independent, collaborative, and productive line of research resulting in a sustainable output of publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Seek intramural funding through 1 of 4 RUSVM Research Centers as initial support to build the foundation to seek extramural funding
  • Represent RUSVM and showcase research achievements through participation at scientific meetings

Administrative/Service Activities: 5-10%

  • Serve as member on various academic and operational committees
  • Serve as course or program coordinator in our DVM, Vet Prep, or MSc-One Health programs
  • Serve as faculty advisor to RUSVM student organizations or clubs

Qualifications
  • DVM, or comparable degree, or PhD in veterinary anatomy with post-doctoral experience is required

  • Combination of a DVM and PhD is highly desired for higher academic rank

  • The successful candidate will have experience as an educator with a teaching philosophy to deliver lectures with scope and depth to convey concepts and clinical applications as well as fortitude to rigorously assesses student progress
  • The successful candidate will have developed or have the potential to develop a scholarly record as a scientist with a research philosophy that embraces One Health from basic sciences or educational perspectives in a collaborative manner which will support and sustain intramural and extramural grant funding
  • The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and embrace a culture of care that is based on diversity, equity, and inclusion supported by core values that encompass T.E.A.C.H – Team, Energy, Accountability, Community, Heart
