Job Description

Overview: 

RUSVM’s Office of Student Experience provides programs and support that assist veterinary students achieve their goal of completing the veterinary program and becoming practice ready graduates.   

As a member of the Student Experience Team, the Student Service Engagement Representative’s primary responsibility is to provide excellent financial management support service to the club and organization accounts of RUSVM’s Student American Veterinary Medical Association chapter (SAVMA). Additionally, the Student Service Engagement Representative will support the Manager of Student Engagement in assuring an excellent transition experience for new students including pre-arrival activities, new student orientation, and activities of the first week of classes. The Student Service Engagement Representative interfaces frequently with the Student Experience team, university faculty and staff, Adtalem departments and colleagues, St. Kitts organizations, and others. 

This position will report to the Manager of Student Engagement. 

The Student Service Engagement Representative is an essential member of Student Experience Team and will work closely with colleagues across the university in the delivery of an exceptional student experience. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Continuously prioritize excellent student service as a fundamental goal and attribute of the student experience team. 

  • Facilitate ongoing SAVMA national dues processing, record-keeping, and payment.  

  • Oversee financial administration of all SAVMA associated clubs and organization, ensuring compliance with SAVMA and organization polices, and serve as account-related resource to club presidents, vice-presidents, and treasurers. 

  • Facilitate effective student organization budget development and management by providing budget management resources, materials, and training.  

  • Regularly provide budget statements for student organization leaders, advisors and relevant RUSVM colleagues. 

  • In partnership with student service center staff, assure effective student organization budget management for student leaders and student organizations. 

  • Effectively track, and assure resolution of, student organization budget challenges and problems. 

  • Provide support for new student orientation and related activities including scheduling of spaces, assuring meals for student and guests, ordering supplies, and processing bill payments. 

  • Assist with orientation leader selection processes. 

  • Updates and maintains web-based wellness program (Thrive) information and resources.  

  • Participate in professional organizations as appropriate and serve on university committees as assigned and/or interested.  

  • Contributes positively to the work environment of RUSVM. 

  • Performs other job-related duties as mutually agreed upon or assigned. 

Service Center Representative Responsibilities: 

  • Contribute to building and continually refining knowledge database of RUSVM policies and procedures to equip service center staff for effective student service.  

  • Participate in ongoing training opportunities to strengthen and expand effective use of SSC systems. 

  • In partnership with the entire SSC team, assure consistent coverage of SSC service hours.

  • Education and/or experience related to essential job functions including, but not limited to, higher education, business, or project management. 

  • Experience with the use of computer-based systems and to learn new systems effectively.  

  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to work with a team of people.  

  • Oral and written skills to communicate in a diverse environment, with tact and diplomacy.  

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve customer service problems effectively.  

  • A demonstrated positive approach to helping students.
