Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to help us develop and maintain our computer systems infrastructure. Primary responsibilities will be across storage, physical and virtualized workstations, servers, remote working software, imaging systems, and configuration management systems.
The role is based on-site at our studios in El Segundo. You will be developing and supporting infrastructure for several teams across Virtual Production, Realtime Art Department, Visual Effects, and Production. You will also be working intimately with an enterprise team of network and security engineers.
Experience in Media and Entertainment companies and particularly Visual Effects is preferred. Artist software includes Unreal Engine, Houdini, Maya, Nuke, and Adobe products. Our workstations are primarily Windows based, and we run Linux on many servers.
The successful candidate will have the ability to design and implement complex systems with minimal input, look to automate as much as possible, excel at problem solving, look forward to working on-site, and be collaborative and a good communicator with other technical staff, stakeholders, and end users.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a remote artist solution with virtualized workstations and PCoIP.
- Manage and improve usability and performance of our NetApp and ZFS storage.
- Manage and expand our real-time GPU compute stacks for our Virtual Production LED wall operations.
- Manage and expand our Render Farm compute stacks.
- Work with our DevOps engineers to manage software and configurations (currently using Ansible).
- Work with our network engineers for network changes and help isolate performance issues.
- Help develop and maintain infrastructure monitoring systems.
- Other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or be able to demonstrate past successes in a similar role.
- 5+ years of experience required in a computing role
- Preferred experience working in Visual Effects, production, or post-production.
- Preferred experience working with MPA & TPN (Motion Picture Association & Trusted Partner Network) security frameworks
Competencies – Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience with both Windows and Linux
- Experience designing and implementing systems for remote working (preferably with PCoIP)
- Experience with cloud technology and infrastructure
- Experience with virtualization, containerization
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Powershell, etc
- Preferred experience with Ansible, Packer, GitHub, Perforce, or comparable tools
Working Environment
- This is not a full or partly remote position, it is 100% on-site
- May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
The annual base pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications, prior experience as well as geographic location.
$140,000.00 to $170,000 annually
This is the pay range the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting. Compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position.
