THE POSITION

We are looking for a Backend Test Engineer to enhance the quality and performance of our software products. This role focuses on creating, executing, and maintaining comprehensive backend tests. The ideal candidate will be adept in testing various backend functionalities, including data virtualization, ETL/ELT processes, databases, and clustering technologies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing, and executing thorough backend tests to ensure our product’s integrity and performance.
- Hands-on testing of various API interfaces such as REST, JDBC, ODBC, and OData, including conducting performance assessments.
- Collaborating closely with development and product teams to ensure high-quality releases and achieve customer satisfaction.
- Enhancing existing integration and API tests, and developing new ones using Java.
- Continuously refining QA processes, methodologies, and tools to boost efficiency and effectiveness.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in backend system testing who thrives in a collaborative environment and is keen to drive improvements in quality assurance processes. The candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our software meets the highest standards of quality and reliability.
YOUR TECH STACK:
- 5+ years of experience in a QA engineering role, with a focus on backend testing.
- Deep knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases, including database testing.
- Solid experience in REST API backend testing.
- Proficient in Java, with practical experience in developing backend test automation.
- Proficiency in Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or GitLab).
- Familiarity with performance testing tools and methodologies, with the ability to conduct basic performance tests.
NICE-TO-HAVE:
- Experience with ETL/ELT product testing.
- Understanding of data warehousing and RDBMS internals.
- Knowledge of Python scripting.
- Experience with distributed systems testing.
- Experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and data integration systems (e.g., Pentaho, Informatica).
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
YOUR PERSONAL STACK
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and investigative skills, with the ability to analyze log files, error messages, etc., to identify the root cause of problems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams in a remote set-up.
- Good command of English (upper intermediate or higher). Fluency in Ukrainian or Russian would be a plus.
