This is a remote position.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and oversee National Grid projects up to 132kV. The successful candidate will manage the planning, execution, and delivery of high-voltage electrical infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and schedule requirements. This role requires a strong background in managing complex electrical projects, a deep understanding of National Grid standards, and excellent leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management: Lead the end-to-end management of National Grid projects up to 132kV, from initial planning and design through to execution and handover.
  • Planning and Scheduling: Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget management, ensuring alignment with client requirements and company objectives.
  • Budget Management: Manage project budgets, ensuring financial targets are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Monitor costs and implement cost-saving measures where necessary.
  • Team Leadership: Coordinate and lead multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Client Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring client expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that issues are resolved promptly and effectively.
  • Compliance: Ensure all project activities comply with National Grid standards, health and safety regulations, and other relevant statutory requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee quality control processes, ensuring that all work meets or exceeds industry and client standards.
  • Reporting: Provide regular project status updates to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key milestones, risks, and achievements.
  • Contract Management: Manage contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring that all contractual obligations are met.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. A master’s degree or PMP/PRINCE2 certification is advantageous.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project management, with a focus on high-voltage electrical infrastructure projects up to 132kV.
    • Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of National Grid standards, procedures, and regulations related to high-voltage systems.
    • Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as MS Project or Primavera.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate project teams, manage stakeholders, and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make decisions under pressure.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel to project sites across the UK as needed.
