Position Overview 

 

As Technical Trainer, you will be responsible for conducting training for the agile authorization process called Operation Vulcan Logic (OVL) and cyber assurance for the Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Office's (CDAO) Authorizing Official. This role will focus instructing Cyber Risk Assessors (otherwise known as Security Control Assessors), Information Security Systems Mangers (ISSMs), Program Mangers and other key stakeholders on OVL.

The ideal candidate will have a background in Security Control Assessments, Cybersecurity Policies, Information Security, NIST, and/or the Risk Management Framework. Success in this position requires desire to learn and understand statutory guidance such as the NIST 800 series, DoDI 8500.01, DoD 8140.03, ISO 27001, COBIT, DoD RMF, and Operation Vulcan Logic (OVL), along with current cybersecurity best practices. Additionally, the candidate should possess strong analytical skills, the ability to communicate effectively, and an inclination for delivering excellence.  Experience within private sector or large enterprise preferred.

Candidates should have at least a Secret-level security clearance

 

Work Location


Full-time remote. Candidates in the Washington DC Metropolitan preferred. You will need to come into meetings in DC when required. Travel to other training locations will vary with business needs, however, expect approximately 10% to 25%.  

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-person training sessions on Operation Vulcan Logic, focusing on the Risk Management Framework (NIST 800-37 r2) and its implementation.
  • Content Development: Create and update training materials, including presentations, hands-on exercises, and case studies.
  • Tailor training sessions to meet the specific needs of diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Assess the effectiveness of training through feedback and metrics and adjust content as necessary.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource on cyber security best practices, frameworks, and operational procedures.
  • Provide post-training support and guidance to participants, addressing questions and assisting with practical implementation challenges.
  • Work closely with instructional designers, content developers, and other trainers to enhance training programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics.
  • Provide support and guidance to learners throughout their training journey.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and incorporate innovative training methods and technologies.

 

Success Factors

  • Deep understanding of the Risk Management Framework (NIST 800-37 r2) and its practical application in cybersecurity operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven experience in delivering technical training, preferably in cyber security or related fields.
  • Ability to adjust training content and delivery methods based on participant feedback and evolving industry standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and assist learners effectively.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of DoD Cybersecurity Policies, Information Security, NIST, and the Risk Management Framework.
  • Engineering background with the ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Tools. PowerPoint skills a must.

 

Preferred

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
  • Experience: Previous experience in conducting remote training sessions.
  • Instructional Design Skills: Familiarity with instructional design principles and techniques.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of government or defense sector cyber security practices and requirements.
