Job Description
The Business/System Analyst is a key member of the Business Transformation team driving and facilitating change at Penn Mutual. This role will support delivery of the strategic Life Insurance business transformation efforts and will partner with Product Owners, Stakeholders, SMEs, and Technical Team in a collaborative environment to bring strategic vision to completion. In addition, the Business/System Analyst will support operational change efforts for the business teams as needed.
This position is for a detail-oriented, analytical and logical thinker, who can utilize a blend of traditional and adaptive concepts, principles, and tools to support strategic deliverables in agile environment.
The ideal candidate is able to understand complex business processes, systems, and data. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and ask right questions, organized and quality focused with creative problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to document systems and user activities, including process, applications, data mapping, use cases, financial controls, report specifications.
- Translate identified business needs into useful artifacts and agile user stories.
- Work with Product Owner on the product roadmap definition, user stories, and backlog maintenance.
- Take a proactive approach to clarify questions and gather information for implementation teams.
- Facilitate meaningful conversations across all levels and areas of the company.
- Build artifacts to communicate concepts, ideas, and plans to diverse audiences, knowing what style to use when and for whom.
- Build strong relationships across all roles and levels of the company.
- Effectively communicate with both technical and nontechnical team members and stakeholders.
- Encourage and demonstrate comfort with change, ambiguity, debate, conflict, experimentation.
- Exude enthusiasm, energy, and a positive attitude.
Experience/Skills/Abilities
- 5+ years’ experience in a business analyst, system analyst, or similar role.
- Experience in Life Insurance industry or understanding industry specific regulations, standards, and practices.
- Seasoned life insurance company professional with broad operations experience. Experience with group life insurance programs (multi-life, Executive Benefit, etc) preferred.
- Experience in technical environments with multiple integrations, familiarity with software development life cycle.
- JSON, XML and/or ACORD knowledge or demonstrated aptitude to gain this knowledge.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook, Atlassian Jira and Atlassian Confluence.
- Experience with digital collaboration platforms (Lucidchart, MIRO, etc.) and/or business process mapping / workflow applications.
- Experience with SQL, BI tools are plus.
- Experience with agile methodology, ceremonies and artifacts.
Education/Licenses/Professional Designations
- Bachelor’s degree in related business major or equivalent experience.
Base Salary Range - $83,500 - $110,000
