We continue to invest in our people, processes, and technology to strengthen our ability to efficiently deliver Quick, Easy, Trusted service across all our stores – every day. We're not just in the car business; we're in the people business. And we're looking for humble, hungry, and smart people to help us shape the future of mobility. If you're hungry to drive change and seek a dynamic, collaborative environment that fuels both personal and professional growth, you've found your place with us.

Our highest priority is creating a diverse and welcoming workplace with team members from varied backgrounds and experiences. People of color, women, LGBTQIA+, veterans, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Opportunity

Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a Customer Insights Sr. Analyst. In this role, you will develop consumer and customer understanding and insights in an ongoing effort to deliver competitive advantage and drive top-line and bottom-line growth across the branded portfolio. The Consumer Insights Sr. Analyst will not only do research but also provide consultative direction and insights into thought leadership for brand, business, and functional leaders based on a thorough understanding of the marketplace using consumer analysis and market intelligence.
The Customer Insights Sr. Analyst will interact frequently with cross-functional teams. These business partners rely on this Sr. Analyst for a clear understanding of underlying category dynamics, consumer/retail trends, and marketplace analysis.

How You'll Make a Difference

  • Advise and serve as a strategic business partner for assigned business units able to 1) proactively determine, advocate, gain approval for and own research workstreams (primary, secondary, data synthesis/analysis) that meet short and long-term business priorities, and 2) drive activation of research recommendations through on-going guidance and collaboration.
  • Lead elements of research execution for on-time and on-budget delivery to meet business unit and functional area objectives. This involves planning research tasks once approved, including coordination with business partners regarding research inputs and project timelines, management of all external research service providers, selection/purchase of lists and other data assets to supplement research participant pools if needed, project budget planning, conducting or overseeing analysis and reporting, and share-outs of learnings.
  • Generate insights by integrating multiple, disparate data pieces from research and non-research sources (i.e., trends, internal data systems like finance, marketing, etc.).
  • Communicate inspirational yet understandable data stories and insights summaries that influence the organization to think in new ways about its consumers, markets, competitors, and industries for long-term growth.
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers that fill gaps and improve research capabilities.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Minimum of five years of relevant market research experience

  • A mix of supplier and client-side research experience desired

  • Demonstrated innovative problem-solving skills - insightful and resourceful

  • Functional/Technical Tool Set: This individual must have solid quantitative and qualitative research skills emphasizing consumer behavior/psychology and statistical analysis. It is not critical that they use these tools on a day-to-day basis but rather that they understand the range of available tools and methodologies and can direct others, including outside research vendors, regarding what/how to use them, depending on the situation. Their supplier network should be extensive. This person's experience or supplier network will greatly contribute to the organization's “best practices” inventory.

  • Data Integrator: This individual must be skilled at seeking, understanding, and using multiple data sources (research and non-research) to generate new insights about consumers and markets that contribute to building foundational learnings and influencing the organization.

  • Business Acumen: The candidate must understand how a business's functional areas work and be able to translate research into business speak and vice versa when engaging with internal business partners and vendors.

  • Detailed and Holistic Thinking: Considering the wide variety of business opportunities and challenges, we need someone who can think broadly, conceptually, and holistically, able to connect the dots across the entire organization but also think deeply about each business unit as supported.

  • Innovative Problem-Solving: This individual must be innovative and persistent as they work within and across functions to solve complex and time-urgent problems.

  • Business Partner Focused: This individual must be highly motivated to meet or exceed the requirements of internal and external business partners. Potential business partners will include but are not limited to, Brands, Fleets, Franchises, Digital, Pricing, Canada, Strategic Partnerships, Finance, Central Operations, etc.

  • Proactive: Responding to research requests is not enough. The person in this position should anticipate the business needs and propose research solutions that will lead to new insights and a stronger competitive position.

  • Communications: This individual must be able and willing to be a strong advocate for their POV with the understanding that their insights are grounded in fact-based research and sound business judgment. We need an excellent communicator, presenter, and storyteller with strong verbal and written skills.
