Your missions

383 Group is a collection of digital product specialists, uniting the skills, knowledge and experience of 383 Project, a digital product studio, Canvas, an award-winning digital product conference and community, and IRIS, a product talent acquisition consultancy.

Together, we empower digital communities. We work with the bold and the brave to create high-performing, inclusive digital platforms and experiences, elevate product design standards and thinking, and support and develop product leaders at every stage of their careers.

We aim for our work to have a positive impact on people's lives, even if that's in the smallest of ways.

About the team

383’s Commercial team comprises Marketing, Sales (Business Development), and Customer Success, all of whom play a vital role in the growth of 383. We are ultimately responsible for delivering sales into 383 with the mission to seek out, win, and build long-term partnerships with clients who share our view of the world and want to create exceptional digital products and services. Our arsenal to do this is strong and growing. We are continually looking at how we share our thinking with the world and build opportunities for people to interact and engage with 383, with the ultimate goal of creating a partnership.

About the role

We’re seeking a highly ambitious and commercially focused Business Development Manager to join our growing digital studio team. Reporting to our Business Development Director, you will be ultimately responsible for seeking out and winning new business clients, helping solve problems for our clients through our specialisms in digital product, design and development. Understanding the needs of our prospects and aligning them to the right 383 services to maximise the value exchange, you will engage senior stakeholders from our key target business sectors before successfully onboarding new prospects into the business, and then growing those accounts through engaging with new stakeholders and selling other 383 Group services.

You’ll work hard to increase 383’s industry reputation across several touch points and tirelessly promote the 383 brand and its values internally and to the broader industry. The role's core is actively outward-facing, and you’ll be confident communicating with senior business leaders via multiple channels.

You’ll be very commercially minded, relentlessly focusing on achieving targets and seeking out opportunities that can help us grow.

In this role, you’ll find yourself:

  • Building a robust sales pipeline to support the business’ growth.
  • Leading all commercial aspects of business engagements with prospects, including pitching and developing opportunities.
  • Organically sourcing new business opportunities through targeted ABM campaigns
  • Defining and executing an industry and networking event strategy, with the outcome of cultivating a network of potential clients and referrers.
  • Leading on RFI/RFP responses and actively sourcing new business opportunities via tender portals and framework opportunities
  • Helping drive the conversion rate of our marketing qualified leads, creating specific nurture campaigns to move prospects through the sales and marketing funnel.
  • Driving our referral network strategy, helping build advocates for 383, setting up agreements and rewarding their referrals to us.
  • Behave as a leader with all internal delivery units, empowering fellow 383ers to deliver their best work for prospective clients.
  • Promote all marketing activities and engage new prospects to strengthen their relationship with 383.
  • Embody the product mindset that differentiates us from our competitors and demonstrates the commercial ability to see the bigger picture.
  • Maintaining a detailed knowledge of 383’s case studies and projects to create insightful thought pieces to engage prospects.
  • Delivering on the strategic vision of 383 Groups’ event plan, as devised by the Group Head of Marketing, ensuring a strong, commercial ROI in the form of attendees, leads and conversations with target prospects.

There are a few things we’re looking for in our next Business Development Manager:

  • 5+ years experience in a commercially focussed digital role within sales.
  • You have a proven track record in securing new sales leads, closing opportunities and exceeding targets.
  • You can engage with new prospects across multiple formats (phone, email, events) and convert them into prospects.
  • You can budget and deliver results against investment and know-how to track it.
  • You’re able to demonstrate your understanding of the digital industry.
  • Operated within a fast-paced and varied agency environment.

You’ll probably be:

  • Focussed - you’re hyper-focused on achieving your goals and sales targets, not just vanity metrics, and will ask yourself every day ‘is what I am doing now going to help me achieve what the business needs from me?’.
  • A connector - you can connect with our prospects, network and clients on a professional and personal level, building loyalty and creating opportunities for us and them with each other.
  • Tenacious - you don’t mind chasing down what you need to succeed.
  • Team centred - no one gets anywhere in this role alone, so you’ll be focused on empowering those in other teams who will be paramount in helping you reach your goals.
  • Consultative - our projects are not off the shelf. We need your consultative mind to listen, digest and help define the right solution for our clients, and involve them in the process.

In terms of experience, you’ll have a track record of exceeding sales targets, engaging with new and existing stakeholders, and creating and honing strategies to drive your achievement.

Over time, you’ll probably progress to Head of Business Development, taking on team and management responsibility.

About us

We're pretty laid back, but there are a few things you should know about what's important to us.

Humility, not modesty. We know that we’re good, and trust in our people, skills, and capabilities. But we also know nobody is above making mistakes, and there is always more for us to learn. We talk with confidence, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

Bravery, not bravado. We push each other to improve, take calculated risks, and admit when we’re wrong. We put our money where our mouth is, and hold the same high standards of ourselves as we do of our clients.

Compassion, not indifference. We care about each other, we care about the work we do, and we care about the world we live in. We understand that we all have lives outside of the office and that our impact goes beyond the products we build.

Honesty, not lip service. We believe in straight talking and telling it like it is, without pushing an agenda. We strive to have open conversations that focus on the right thing to do.

Benefits:

The salary band for this role is £40k - £50k, and we offer lots of extra perks to sweeten the deal.

  • Commission - An attractive commission structure to reward your achievement
  • Tech - Swanky Macbook to work on
  • Flexible Hours - We know people have kids, dogs, lives, it’s all good!
  • Your Birthday Off! - Not to mention 20 days holiday to start & Christmas off on top! (That’s about 38 days holiday inc B/H’s, way better than the normal 28!)
  • Family Planning - We offer an enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave package
  • Healthcare - We’ve a healthcare cash plan for UK residents (Non-UK options coming soon)
  • Training & Development - We’ve a quarterly book budget, we run regular Breakfast Sessions + Lunch & Learn sessions to spread the knowledge and more!
  • A Bit Of Fun - A voucher every quarter to spend on whatever you like, just for turning up!
  • Socials - We’re a pretty sociable bunch so we run lots of events online, as well as IRL to catch up with your colleagues! (Not to mention we’ve a Bookclub aka Cheese & Wine club!  )
  • Pension - 3% Employer to match 5% Employee contributions

Generally speaking, the application process will include:

  • A 30-min video chat to talk through your CV and experience
  • An interview with our Business Development Director, Tom. You’ll be given a couple of things to prepare in advance, including a brief to respond to. Don’t worry - we’ll give you plenty of time for this bit.
  • Finally, you’ll meet with our founder, Sukhi.

Just to let you know...

We’re looking for people who share our values of; passion, humility, bravery and honesty, in addition to compassion, talent and hard work. Oh, and a decent sense of humour will help, too.

You may not meet all of the requirements in this job description, but you should still apply, especially if you have an interesting story to tell. Your skills and passion will stand out—and set you apart—especially if your path into product has been unconventional. We welcome diverse perspectives and people who think rigorously and aren’t afraid to challenge the status-quo.

We’re thrilled with the applications we receive for our roles, and love taking the time to review them, but unfortunately we’re not able to reach out to everyone individually. If we’d like to move forward with your application we’ll definitely be in contact with you!

383 has a policy of non-solicitation of employees from either active or prospective clients. We apologise to any applicants this impacts, but it is a necessary policy to protect our ongoing commercial interests.

We are not looking to work with 3rd parties, direct applicants only.
