Senior Systems Engineer – East
Duties & Responsibilities:
Job Summary:
VIAVI’s experienced Systems Engineer, located in the Eastern Region (US or Canada), will be an essential member of VIAVI’s regional sales team and work closely with VIAVI’s strategic customers and industry experts.
In this role, the Systems Engineer will provide technical and strategic leadership and be responsible for developing solutions to our customers' need which will lead to overachievement of a defined territory quota. This individual will also perform a critical role throughout the entire customer lifecycle, including technical discovery, qualification, solution definition, demonstration, proof of concept, and automation project delivery.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide direct pre-sales and post-sales support to key customers.
- Quickly develop a deep knowledge of customers' technical challenges that inhibit their ability to achieve stated product / service delivery objectives.
- Demonstrating strength and experience in solution and value selling and the ability to build and demonstrate solid business cases that supports the value proposition.
- Developing customer advocates who sell and build consensus and the ability to influence key decision makers.
- Establish strategic working relationships with assigned clients and under each client’s technical and business needs.
- Effectively work with internal/external teams to anticipate and qualify customer needs.
- Provide technical demonstrations and presentations to customers.
- Work with VIAVI Support and Engineering teams to help solve customer issues.
- Identify customer requirements and communicate these requirements/feature requests to Product Marketing.
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:
Ideal Qualifications & Experience:
- 5 years+ technical experience in Telecommunications / Data communications Industry.
- Understanding of product/service development processes in the Communications and/or Test & Measurement industry.
- Self-motivated, working independently and willing to accept challenges.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong technical skills in networking, security, applications and/or protocol design is desired.
- Technology knowledge of IP and Ethernet technologies, Data Center Ethernet, 800/400/100/40/10GigEth. L4-L7 technologies.
- Routing protocol knowledge, both IPv4 and IPv6 including RIP, BGP, OSPF, ISIS. MPLS Protocol knowledge: RSVP-TE, LDP.
- Automation and manual testing of networking devices manufactured by Spirent, Ixia, Keysight, Cisco Systems, Nokia, Juniper Networks, Quali Systems etc.
- Strong Automation knowledge utilizing common languages such as C/C+, Java, Tcl, Perl and Python.
- Knowledge of VMWare ESXi, vSphere, and even Kubernetes desired.
- Network/Security certifications, including CCNA, CCIE, JNCIA and or CISSP are a plus.
- Ability to travel in Americas and overseas (50%).
