Job description

This is a remote position.

The Purchasing Team are key to ensuring we can stock the baskets of food, love and hope for distribution.

A bargain hunter who loves negotiating and thrives on beating targets.

Our Purchasing  Team Deputy  is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to build on previous years successes by sourcing even better deals and hunting for bargains. You'll support the Purchase Team Leader in recruiting a small team of dedicated individuals who can assist in sourcing, negotiating, tracking & recording expenditure.

You'll be guided by previous leaders and coached by the charity trustees in every aspect of the role. 
 

RESPONSIBILITES
  • Talk to existing suppliers to understand this years prices & negotiate the best price possible
  • Support the Purchasing Team Leader where necessary and step up to be Leader if required.
  • Research the market to find the best deals, perhaps finding new suppliers 
  • Plan the list of goods required & a critical time line 
  • Reviewing our processes to see if we can do better
  • Record and track expenditure to ensure prices are within budget
  • Think creatively about what additional goods could be added to the baskets to enhance them further
  • Mentor and lead a small team
  • Keep the Leadership Team updated on the plan. 



Requirements
  • Someone who loves to negotiate to get the best deal possible
  • To be bold enough to ask for things for free
  • To record & track expenditure, or ensure a member of the team does
  • To be methodical & thorough in this vital task to ensure all contents are sourced
  • Plan & track the timeline for delivering the basket contents on the day 
  • Someone who'd like the opportunity to develop their leadership skills
  • Self motivated
  • Attend a fortnightly online meeting with the Leadership Team, if the Leader cannot attend
  • Ideally will have attended the event before​
