Freight Logistics Supervisor

We are searching for an experienced Freight Logistics Supervisor to support sales with current customer relationships and actively grow our business through new customer acquisition and expanding our footprint with existing customers. By prospecting, communicating value, developing long term relationships and closing deals in your territory, your success will play an integral role in building our long-term customer experiences while achieving sales revenue goals.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is primarily responsible for managing and overseeing team members and all inbound and outbound freight from our 3PL warehouses/ITAD processing facilities.

Our Head Office is located in Richmond Hill, ON.

This is a Hybrid work opportunity.

How you’ll make a huge impact here - and in your career:

  • Customer Service and Support
    • Lead and manage Carrier relationships. Negotiate freight rates, maintain service levels, manage day-to-day operations, improve costs, proposing other service efficiencies across our distribution network.
    • Action and support pickup requests from customers in liaison with Account Associates. Proactively work with carriers to obtain freight estimates and book freight accordingly.
    • Effectively manage communication with customers and designated logistics partner.
    • Ensure compliance with logistics partner on forms and documentation needed to guarantee a satisfactory pickup arrangement, this may include communication on site visits.
    • Partner with Account Associates and/or Inside Sales Representatives in meeting with customers for special projects.
  • Cross functional department support and reporting
    • Create and execute on SOP’s for the Freight and Logistics department with cross functional departments and their processes.
    • Support resolution of problems or concerns that arise relating to freight logistics
    • Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements; continually seek to identify cost saving opportunities to reduce or eliminate system cost
    • Maintain awareness of current market conditions.
    • Create and manage SLA’s (Service Level Agreements) with carriers/suppliers to monitor performance and cost control as per SOPs.
  • Customs/Regulatory compliance
    • Lead compliance with cross border customs in coordination with freight and logistics partners. Responsible for declaration/transactions with Canada Customs and Border security
    • Ensure operations team is fully compliant with local rules and regulations.
  • Freight invoices
    • Process freight and logistics invoices received from carriers/suppliers including discrepancy resolution and payment approvals


Skills and qualifications, you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years total experience in supply chain, logistics, and/or related technologies.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Cross functional/organizational team management and facilitation skills (internal and external)
  • Ability to plan, schedule, work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Willingness to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced agile environment
  • Strong interpersonal and robust verbal/written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, thoroughness in work, and ability to meet deadlines
