WHAT YOU BRING

As an Associate Software Engineer, you will focus on developing and maintaining web applications using the Ruby on Rails framework.  You will be assisted in this by more senior developers as required and will provide timely updates and feedback to your Engineering Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications using Ruby on Rails.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Integrate with front-end components using React.
• Write and maintain clean, reusable, and reliable Ruby code.
• Design and develop API endpoints for mobile and web consumption.
• Implement and maintain a rigorous test environment with RSpec and TDD practices.
• Utilize GitHub for version control and collaboration.
• Proactively identify and rectify bugs and performance bottlenecks.
• Provide technical support for production systems, when necessary.
• Continuously learn and implement best practices in web development.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• 3+ years of recent experience in Ruby on Rails development.
• You have proven experience in Ruby on Rails and React development.
• Familiarity with RSpec and test-driven development (TDD).
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, specifically GitHub.
• Experience in designing and developing Ruby backend APIs.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
• Passion for best design and coding practices.
• Drive for continuous learning and development.
• Strong spoken and written English skills.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
