Job description

About the Lead Dynamic Studies Engineer position

ControlPoint Technologies is seeking a Lead Dynamic Studies Engineer to provide project support within our Distribution System Planning & Engineering team.

Candidates must have direct experience with Dynamic Studies, Time Domain Studies, in relation to system impact caused by Distributed Energy Resources (DER) at the distribution system level. Ability to work within engineering design standards and quality programs specific to client needs and requirements. Project Management skills and ability to meet critical deadlines is required. Must be an outgoing team player with the ability to provide client confidence.

Projects include:
  • Time Domain Study for Distributed Energy Resources (DER), including:
    • Transient Overvoltage
    • Ground Fault Overvoltage
    • Load Rejection Overvoltage
    • Harmonics Analysis
    • Transformer Energization
    • Risk of Islanding Analysis
    • DVAR Assessment
  • Analytical Studies for Distribution System
  • System Modeling for Stability Studies and Power Flow Analysis
  • Conduct Thermal Capability Analysis
  • Distributed Generation Interconnection Studies
  • System Impact Studies
  • Arc Flash Analysis
  • Power System Studies
  • Protection and Coordination Review, Analysis, Settings
Skills:
  • Lead Dynamics Studies Engineer will be an active Project Lead and Client-Facing Consultant
  • Distribution Planning Area Studies and Analysis
  • Professional attitude, accountable, able to work independently and with utility groups, departments, and operations.
  • Ability to estimate project scope and develop project plan to meet critical success factors.
  • ASPEN, CYME, PSS/E, Synergi
  • Planning Criteria and Standards: ISO, FERC, NERC, NPCC
  • Proposal writing, establishing budgets and schedules with customers in a collaborative environment is essential.
  • Exceptional customer service and responsiveness is required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in electrical distribution planning for utilities
  • Professional Engineering Licensure (PE) is preferred.
  • Experience in Electric Power Distribution Design
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and high level of business and engineering ethics.
