Job description

Residential Groundworks QS (Senior)

Ideally looking for someone to hit the ground running, be predominantly site based, and look after residential groundworks sites in the following areas with a turnover of circa £15million across the sites:

- Burley In Wharfedale (N.Leeds)

- Bradford

- Harrogate

- Boroughbridge

- Potentially Chesterfield / Doncaster and surrounding areas

We are looking to open a satellite office in the Chesterfield/Sheffield area within 6 months which will be their ultimate base, but for now the role will require working onsite from a site office (Burley) and potential to work from home when required, with occasional meetings at our headquarters in Driffield.

To note we do not require an estimator just a competent groundworks QS who is hungry and can hit the ground running.

Availability is immediate, £75-90K is the expected salary range (negotiable upon the right applicant), with company car, private medical, pension contributions.

Role Overview..
Responsible for surveying duties on assigned contracts and ensuring the communication flow of relevant information to appropriate parties. Prepare interim and final valuations including pricing of variations, material and sub-contract analysis and contract planning with the contracts manager where appropriate.

Principal Accountabilities..

Visit site, check progress, review site records and prepare valuations
Utilise in house packages/spreadsheets for valuation and variations
Ensure correct records are kept and necessary orders/signatures are obtained
Ensure valuation is submitted on time and in correct format
Prepare tenders for submission with a view to winning profitable work
Chase up payments and clarify queried items
Liaise with Contracts Manager, Site Supervisor and Engineers on specification, coverage and variations
Attend follow up meetings to support valuations, site management and feedback any anomalies that may be identified
Attend any internal pre-contract meetings
Attend interim progress meetings (where appropriate)
Attend internal post contract meetings
Serve as a point of contact for information concerning tender/specification matters
Reporting directly to the managing and operations directors.

Previous experience in a similar role
Ability to establish excellent working relationships with all disciplines
Apply problem solving techniques
Must be commercially aware
Able to work within a team
Able to negotiate and influence decision makers whilst retaining good relationships
Excellent communicator
Ability to retain high level of energy and commitment
