Salary: £37,000 + London Weighting (£3,344) if applicable

How you’ll make a difference…**
This position will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to contribute to the shaping of the BRC’s assurance function. Supporting the Assurance Manager, you’ll help to deliver an effective Assurance Plan to support both the organisation’s continued compliance with its legal, regulatory and key contractual obligations and drive continual learning and improvement. **
A day in the life of an Assurance Officer will include:**
- Engaging with colleagues across the organisation to develop an understanding of the BRC’s obligations and the controls implemented to ensure they are complied with.
- Supporting the delivery of an effective monitoring and testing programme.
- Partnering with front-line services and other corporate functions to agree actions to address any areas of control weakness and non-compliance identified.
- Tracking actions to completion ensuring that they deliver both tangible improvement and organisational learning.
- Working with Compliance colleagues across the BRC to support the development and implementation of assurance best practice across the BRC.
To be a successful Assurance Officer, you'll need:
- Experience working within an assurance function.
- An ability to interrogate and interpret regulation.
- Experience of designing and completing tests to support delivery of an Assurance Plan.
- Experience of documenting results from assurance testing and agreeing actions and responsibilities with stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder management and excellent communication skills.
About the team
The Assurance Officer will be part of a multi-functional team that brings together Compliance, Corporate Risk, Complaints Investigations and Incident Management. The team sits within Professional Services; a part of the Internal Services Directorate, Professional Services is responsible for setting standards, providing advice and driving learning and improvement.
