Here’s the pitch:
We need a Senior Staff Accountant. The purpose of the Senior Staff Accountant position is to understand our systems, data architecture, information flows, and operational processes, and then make recommendations for improvements across the board. The company is growing rapidly and intends to lead the industry in its ability to scale, which will require re-engineering many systems and processes while maintaining appropriate internal controls over financial reporting.An ability to manage financial activities for multiple business entities concurrently is a must.

What You'll Do
  • Help support the ongoing management of financial activities for multiple business entities concurrently.
  • Analyzing complex financial reports and records
  • Making recommendations based on analysis and status of reserves, assets, and expenditures
  • Reviewing journal entries of junior accountants to ensure accuracy.
  • Training and mentoring junior staff.
  • Performing variance analyses and preparing account reconciliations
  • Assisting with financial and tax audits
  • Documenting and monitoring internal controls in support of auditing team.
  • Coordinating more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments
  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable.
  • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
  • Process payroll in a timely manner
  • Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts.
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
  • Issue timely and complete financial statements
  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report.
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
  • Provide a system of management cost reports.
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Coordinate the provision of information to internal and external auditors for the annual audit.
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Be responsible for the filing of reports with the Nevada Financial Institutions Division

  • What You'll Need
  • Ability to manage financial activities for multiple business entities concurrently.
  • BS or MS degree in Accounting, Finance and CPA
  • Minimum 5 years’ of progressively responsible experience in corporate setting
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in public accounting at a big 4 firm
  • Computer science background or excellent skills in MS PowerPoint and Excel, including creating financial models and develop dynamic applications
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including: Vlookups, pivot tables, and financial models, data manipulation and navigation
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Strong communication skills for internal business department and outside investors
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience with accounting for intercompany activity a plus
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • A willingness to roll-up your sleeves and get work done
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
