Job description

Mutual of Omaha is looking to fill a position on the Financial Planning and Analysis team.  The Financial Planning & Analysis team (FP&A) is responsible for financial and expense analysis and projections across all the business and operational units at Mutual of Omaha. This individual will lead budget and expense management processes and analysis including preparation of the annual budget, monthly expense analysis and assistance with quarterly expense forecast preparation.  In addition, this individual will lead expense management projects including expense studies and surveys and provide financial support to business partners. WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU: - Estimated Salary: $80,000-$95,000, plus annual bonus opportunity. - Benefits and Perks, 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match. - Regular associates working 40 hours a week can earn up to 15 days of vacation each year. - Regular associates receive 11 paid holidays in 2024, which includes 2 floating holidays that are added to your prorated personal time to be used at your discretion. - Regular associates are provided sick leave through the use of personal time. Associates working 40 hours a week can receive up to 40 hours of personal time in 2024, which is prorated based on the start date. Additionally you will receive two floating holidays in 2024 by way of personal time that may be used at your discretion. - Applicants for this position must not now, nor at any point in the future, require sponsorship for employment. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO: - Leads the budget and expense management process for operating units through effective and efficient processes.  - Ensure execution of all phases of financial/non-financial or technical project or process work, ensuring results are timely, accurate, and consistent with objectives - Contributes to the research and documentation of complex business issues, extracts insights, forms conclusions and makes recommendations to business partners. - Independently executes on ideas to improve business processes across enterprise functions and knowledge in the workplace. - Fosters a collaborative environment by building relationship with business partners.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING: - Strong knowledge of finance and/or accounting practices and procedures preferably common to an insurance industry finance environment. - Aptitude for technical learning and application to tactical business problems. Must have the ability to learn new technologies and apply this knowledge to optimize processes. - Creative problem solver with a focus on process improvement/automation and reducing manual work. - Strong knowledge of expense management, budgeting, and allocation practices. - Self-driven with demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity, influence change with peers, management, and business partners. - Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with minimal supervision. - You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do. - Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.

PREFERRED: - Prior expense and budget analysis background, including relevant technical tools. - Strong technical skills to aid in data extraction, manipulation, and consolidation. - Advanced level degree or equivalent experience in Finance related field. - Strong knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting, preferably in an insurance setting - Designation specific to the Finance field, such as a CPA.
