Job description

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with software engineers and architects to review architecture and software components, ensuring consistent best practices.
  • Monitor operational metrics to meet Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), leading improvement plans.
  • Manage security controls to meet enterprise requirements, working with legal and compliance teams for risk management.
  • Conduct performance tests for large-scale events or critical releases.
  • Develop and implement Disaster Recovery plans, including data recovery procedures.
  • Lead incident response and post-mortems to resolve production issues and prevent future occurrences.
  • Create runbooks and technical assets, completing periodic technical audits as needed.
  • Handle day-to-day tasks such as access management, configuration, and patch management.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and propose improvements in technical roadmaps.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams for smooth deployment and operation of software releases.
  • Provide feedback on junior staff performance and participate in people development initiatives.
  • Assist with any ad hoc tasks as required by the company.

You should have:

  • Experience: Demonstrated 3 to 5 years of managing software deployments in production environments with set SLAs and SLOs.
  • Cloud Operations: Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, CloudFlare, and GCP, and tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. Proficient in Python, Go, or Ruby.
  • Qualifications: Holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related fields, or possesses professional certifications like Certified DevOps Professional or Certified Solutions Architect.
  • Responsibilities: Capable of independently handling significant features from inception to delivery. Works well in open-ended projects and can evaluate multiple solutions to a problem.
  • Problem Solving: Skilled at solving complex problems under constraints, using data-backed reasoning to assess risks and present well-structured arguments.
  • Quick Thinking: Can quickly process information, think critically, and make informed decisions based on data, especially in high-pressure scenarios.
  • Communication: Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships between teams and customers.
