Job description

We’re on a mission to provide equitable access to economic opportunity, for everyone.

We close critical skill gaps in the workforce through a new kind of apprenticeship that combines work and learning. We begin by recognizing high-potential individuals both inside and outside of a company's current workforce and then we create applied, guided and equitable learning programs, with measurable impact. Because we believe the world needs a better way to match its potential.

We work with over 1,000 leading companies including the likes of Microsoft, Citi and Just Eat to help solve their business-critical problems, and we’ve trained over 12,000 professional apprentices in the tech and data skills of the future. This is made possible by our global team who are driven to achieve a mission that matters, together.

Join Multiverse and help us set a new course for work.

The Opportunity

It’s an incredible time to join the Engineering team at Multiverse as we build an outstanding alternative to university. You have a real opportunity to shape the team - and the entire company - at a critical stage in our growth.

If you’re looking to solve compelling engineering challenges in a collaborative environment and are motivated by having a significant, genuinely positive impact on people’s lives, then we would love to talk with you.

Our goal is to provide you with encouragement and autonomy to do the best work of your career. We want to create a caring, understanding environment where everyone can thrive.

You will join our Enabler pillar, driving equity by making world-class support at work available to as many people as possible. This means providing flexible and personalised enablement features for Coaches, Apprentice Managers, Users, and more.

Your team will be building an exciting new capability, working cross functionally with our colleagues in Data & Insights. This forward-thinking team will provide the opportunity for you to innovate, bring your ideas to the table and see them come to life before your eyes.

You will enjoy being a Software Engineer at Multiverse if:

  • You want to do work that makes a difference

  • You want your opinion to matter

  • You want opportunities to learn and grow

You’ll solve real problems including:

  • How can we build a world-class admissions process that searches for intent and potential?

  • How can we improve the quality of our education while growing it internationally, at scale?

  • How can we make apprenticeships the preferred way of learning around the world?

  • How can we help Multiverse’s coaches to thrive and better support our apprentices?

You will be joining a team with a mission to enable on-demand coaching for Multiverse apprentices, helping both coaches and apprentices to have a better experience while using our platform and tools. This squad is formed by 5 engineers, from Apprentice to Tech Lead level, an Engineering Manager, a Product Manager, a Product Designer and a User Researcher.

Engineering comes together once a week to share learnings at informal sessions, and we encourage sharing with the wider community on our tech blog. We enjoy regular 10% Learning & Development time where we’re free to play with new technologies, contribute to open source or simply experiment to see what we can build. We practise collaboration and prototype new ideas in Engineering-wide Hackathons.

We choose the right technologies and platforms for the use case - Our stack includes but is not limited to:
Elixir, Phoenix, LiveView, PostgreSQL, GraphQL and RabbitMQ, hosted on AWS. But this doesn’t mean you need prior experience in any of these technologies. Applied, on-the-job learning is central to our mission, and our on-boarding process aims to support the many team members who join us without experience in our stack.

  • You are familiar with Agile ways of working

Benefits

  • Health & Wellness- private medical Insurance with Bupa, a medical cashback scheme, life insurance, gym membership & wellness resources through Gympass and access to Spill - all in one mental health support
