Job description

This is a 10 week Summer internship for 2024. Expected start date is late June 3rd through August 9th, 2024. This role is 40 hrs / week and 100% remote; local to MD area is preferred.

Your Role:

The Operational Technology team of the Digitalization & Automation department at MilliporeSigma in Rockville, MD is providing a unique opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in the exciting fields of data analytics, data visualization, data storytelling, Machine Learning and AI. The intern will be a vital member of our team, assisting in projects around on-premises instrument metadata.They should have skills in Python, Perl or Bash Scripting, Bioinformatics, SQL, database management, data cleaning, data analytics, experience with data visualization tools (especially Tableau) as well as working knowledge of the Linux operating system.

The intern will have the opportunity to work on real-world problems and contribute to the company's success. This position is ideal for someone who is highly motivated and eager to learn. The position provides the chance to work with experienced professionals, communication with several IT departments, gain valuable industry knowledge, and bring their own ideas to the table.

Who You Are:

  • A student entering their Junior or Senior year of undergraduate courses, open to graduate students as well
  • Available for full time 40-hour work week
  • Pursuing a degree related to Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics or related field
  • Skills in Python, Perl or Bash Scripting, Bioinformatics, SQL, database management, data cleaning, data analytics, experience with data visualization tools (especially Tableau) as well as working knowledge of the Linux operating system.
