Art Director

The Role

As the Art Director, you will be responsible for providing creative leadership, strategic direction, and artistic vision for our game development projects. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring that the artistic direction aligns with the overall creative and business goals of the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership for the art department, inspiring and motivating the team to achieve creative excellence.
  • Set and maintain a high standard of artistic quality, ensuring that the visual style aligns with the game's vision and target audience.
  • Define and communicate the artistic vision for each project, ensuring consistency and coherence across all art assets.
  • Collaborate with other department heads to integrate art seamlessly into the overall game design and user experience.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a talented team of artists, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support professional development initiatives for the art team.
  • Establish and optimise art production pipelines and workflows, identifying opportunities for efficiency and quality improvement.
  • Work closely with technical artists and art leads to ensure the successful implementation of art assets within the game engine.
  • Collaborate with project managers and producers to create realistic project schedules and budgets for the art department.
  • Monitor and manage resources effectively, ensuring that the art team meets project milestones on time and within budget.
  • Conduct regular reviews of art assets to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality, consistency, and creativity.
  • Implement feedback loops and iterative processes to refine and enhance art throughout the development cycle.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Art Director or Lead Artist on AAA titles.
  • Excellent artistic and creative vision, demonstrated through a portfolio of successful game projects.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of current industry trends, tools, and technologies and a working familiarity with Unreal engine.
  • Expert knowledge within 3D modelling, texturing, illustration, and other relevant art disciplines.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and work efficiently within tight deadlines.
