Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is proud to work alongside a community of six fellow Diagnostics Companies at Danaher. Together, we’re working at the pace of change to improve patient lives with diagnostic tools that address the world’s biggest health challenges.

The Senior Manager, Corporate Strategy for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for developing the 3-5 year strategic plan each year, defining the company’s priorities, and assessing key decisions, proposals, opportunities, and investments by effectively framing key questions and analyzing business markets, trends, competition, portfolios, technologies, and revenues to help the Beckman leadership team answer them.

This position is part of the Strategic Business Development group and will be remote across the United States. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

You will be a part of the Corporate Strategy Team and report to the Senior Director of Corporate Strategy responsible for Beckman Coulter’s annual strategic planning, topic-specific strategic initiatives, and portfolio alignment. If you thrive in a fast paced, multifunctional, and highly visible role and want to work to build a world-class strategy organization—read on.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support the development of Beckman’s annual 3–5-year strategic plan

    • Drive key workstreams contributing to Beckman’s strategic plan, assessing our core and growth markets as well as current and potential future technologies and determining how to best position Beckman to win

    • Coordinate with strategic plan workstream leaders, technical and operations stakeholders, the analytics and insight center of excellence, and others business partners on strategic planning activities

  • Support the assessment of key decisions, proposals, opportunities, and investments for Beckman

    • Contribute to evaluating the situation, making recommendations, and managing Beckman’s response

    • Areas for assessment may include key business opportunities, organizational initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, partnerships/alliances, etc.

  • Drive strategic initiatives that improve Beckman’s capabilities and/or drive further clarity in commercial, R&D, innovation, and portfolio strategy beyond the annual strategic plan

    • Support transformation initiatives within the company, especially initiatives with high impact for the Global Marketing and Strategic Planning function

    • Contribute to building Beckman’s corporate strategy capabilities and “toolkit”

    • Support commercial, R&D, innovation, and portfolio strategy initiatives to refine Beckman’s approach in key areas, often identified based on recommendations from the annual strategic planning process

  • Analyze market, technology, and competitive dynamics using both qualitative and quantitative approaches and conduct voice of customer and other types of primary research to support strategic planning, decisions, and initiatives

  • Build strong relationships with business unit and functional teams at Beckman and become a go-to partner for these teams on corporate strategy

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in field with 5+ years of related consulting or corporate strategy work experience OR 14 years of general industry experience

  • MBA or other Master’s degree with 3+ years of related consulting or corporate strategy work experience OR 12 years of general industry experience

  • Doctoral degree with 2+ years of related consulting or corporate strategy work experience OR 9 years of general industry experience

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in medical technologies, life sciences, or biopharma; specific knowledge and experience in clinical diagnostics products and markets highly preferred but not required

  • Previous experience in strategy, either in corporate strategy, business development, or strategic marketing roles or in management consulting

  • Excellent communication skills, including effective presentation skills – can effectively communicate difficult concepts and negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view
