Overview**
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Multifamily Underwriter to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for due diligence and direct underwriting of multifamily transactions under the FHA program. Your role will involve coordinating all aspects of the loan process, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance from assignment to closing and beyond. **
Position Responsibilities**
- Underwriting Expertise:
- Analyze and manage the multifamily underwriting process in accordance with investor guidelines.
- Ensure timely issuance of commitments and accurate loan sizing for risk assessment.
- Conduct interviews with borrowers and property managers to gather crucial transaction details.
- Compliance and Coordination:
- Review subordinate debt documents and regulatory agreements in accordance with program requirements.
- Collaborate with originators to determine the most appropriate deal structure.
- Interact with Investor Representatives (HUD) and coordinate with various stakeholders.
- Due Diligence and Documentation:
- Inspect properties nationally, adhering to Investor guidelines.
- Obtain and review third-party reports associated with each transaction.
- Complete underwriting narrative/committee package and review commitment letters.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Work closely with the processing team to monitor submission status and communicate with the deal team and customers.
- Address post-closing follow-up requests from asset management or rating agencies.
- Professional Development:
- Stay current with new or revised legislation and regulations impacting established policies.
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to team success.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
- 7 years of underwriting or related experience.
- Completion of multifamily inspection training or equivalent.
- MAP and/or Healthcare designations or relevant experience.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and modeling.
- Willingness to travel for property inspections and training.
