  • Job Overview

    • To assist passengers with reduced mobility and or hidden disabilities throughout their journey at Birmingham International Airport. Using a variety of means to ensure they are safe and treated with dignity at all times.
    • To undertake additional training as required for continuous self-development.

    Main Duties


    • You will be required to assist in the moving of passengers through the airport, using wheelchairs, aisle chairs or other suitable means
    • Fully and satisfactorily complete all of the tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Safe Systems of Work (SSoW).
    • Proactively report all safety concerns and instances vis your supervisor
    • To be compliant with industry legislation, ensuring EC1107 is achieved, and failures reported
    • Aid passengers with luggage when required


    • Satisfactorily complete a Mitie welcome induction.
    • Correctly use AvTech PDA devices to record details of a passenger's journey
    • Complete yearly refresher training

    Security and Health & Safety

    • Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
    • Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.
    • Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.
    • To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations.
    • Follow and adhere to any security or health and safety training
    • To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.

    What we are looking for

    • Are you able to lift passengers in accordance with manual handling guidelines?
    • Do you have excellent communication skills and an empathic nature?
    • Have the ability to cope with a busy airport environment?
    • Do you have a 5yr checkable reference history?
    • Have the right to work in the UK?
    • The ability to pass a basic Criminal Record Check / DBS?
