Business Development Manager

We are recruiting for an exciting role within a technology sector client who have a respected position in their sector and are seeking a BDM who can drive and enhance the relationships within the defence sectors contracts that they are seeking to enhance and grow.

Working within the business to increase the market share and drive a pipeline of projects through formal proposal and tender processes, ideal candidates will have knowledge gained within Surveillance Technologies and Defence & Government Procurement methods.

Successful candidates will have attributes including:

  • Educated to a degree level or be able to demonstrate solid experience in a similar defence working environment.
  • Experience in the Airborne, Borders, Land and Maritime Defence market is advantageous.
  • Proven experience of strategic selling with an emphasis on Government sales end users (primarily Military, Border Guard, Para Public and Police) through various channels and to OEMs, distributors & integrators. Your experience of selling through Government tenders and competitive bids will be demonstrable along with you strong persuasive oral and writing skills.
  • Motivated to achieve demanding BD & Sales Team targets.
  • A military background would benefit the candidate.
  • Hold computer skills to support proposal preparation, presentations and customer relationship management
  • Analysis skills are critical for future product investments.
  • Foreign language skills: English is essential, while French, Spanish or Italian would be advantageous.
  • The ability to travel extensively is an essential requirement of the role.
  • Awareness of statutory and corporate FCPA, export licensing and foreign trade rules would be helpful
  • A track record of business development and successful closing (awarding) of campaigns would be advantageous.
