Your missions

Datapeople helps recruiting teams make more thoughtful and accurate decisions about their recruiting process, from the job posts they write to the data they report on. We know that small changes can have big impacts and while we're happy to serve some of the most forward-thinking talent teams on the planet including Twitch, BuzzFeed, and Oscar Health, at the heart of our mission is an absolute love for candidates and empathy for the challenges they face when trying to get a job.

Reporting to the Co-founder and Head of R&D, you will maintain our taxonomy of industries, company types, skills and other attributes, and training and validating our various models against these attributes. You'll be a part of a R&D team made up of data scientists, analysts, linguists and engineers, collaborating on a goal to make hiring more data-driven and fair.

You will:
  • Develop, maintain and manage taxonomies for jobs and career documents
  • Make tooling decisions to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our core taxonomy
  • Work closely with data science teams to develop labeled data for them to use in their models
  • Collaborate with product and enablement teams to uncover new annotation trees as we expand the capabilities of our platform and our geographical and industry coverage
  • Identify opportunities to improve our product, guidance and data capabilities to improving hiring outcomes for our customers

This is a remote job and available to all candidates with work privileges currently residing in the United States.

You have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information / Library Sciences, Linguistics, Human Resources or other relevant disciplines.
  • 5+ years of experience working in taxonomy / ontology roles or equivalent experience mapping job descriptions to job families in a large organization (i.e. as a Compensation/HR analyst).
  • Experience with data analytic tools such as R, Python or SQL.
Our benefits:
  • Comprehensive health benefits, including company HSA contributions and company funded Life/AD&D insurance
  • Unlimited PTO (we strongly encourage at least 15 days annually)
  • Retirement benefits through Slavic401k
  • A remote-first company invested in your ability to work from nearly anywhere, plus a home office stipend.

We come to work every day with the mission of making opportunities more accessible and the recruiting process fairer for candidates. We're a remote-first company with linguists, engineers, and scientists working all across the United States.

For candidates residing within the United States, the anticipated base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000. Actual compensation is determined by many factors including candidate experience and skills; location/market; and business needs.

We care deeply about fairness (it's our mission) so you can be assured that your application will never be judged based on your religious belief, age, color, race, creed, marital status, gender, sexual orientation, political affiliation, ethnic origin, family status or disability.
