Working at Lightyear is a unique experience. You get the opportunity to work for a company with a pure and meaningful mission. A mission that will make a positive and lasting impact on future generations.

As a Non-Product Related Buyer you will have the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Managing incoming NPR requests in our order request portal.
  • Gathering requirements from stakeholders.
  • Identifying potential suppliers and approaching them based on a selection process.
  • Communicating with Partners and maintaining a good relationship with them;
  • Negotiating with Suppliers in an out-of-the-box manner ;
  • Set up your own processes, and improve existing ones where possible;
  • Ensure that a certain service level is maintained;
  • Collaborating with various departments to keep the supply chain working at the most efficient level possible;
  • Do contract management for the accounts you are responsible for.
A day as a Non-Product Related Buyer You’ll start off with the casual procurement stand up meeting, where you and your colleagues will casually chat about anything interesting that has happened during the week and tips about what to be on the lookout for. Then you will join the Non-Product related team meeting where the team discusses the pending issues of the week and the progress on the ongoing long term projects, like improving the current processes to make them more efficient.

After the meeting you decide to grab a coffee (or tea!) and you will inevitably run into one of the many colleagues you’ll interact with as an NPR Buyer and probably talk about a pending purchase and their weekend plans. You will then have some time to work on some pending order requests, so you spend a couple of hours on the phone or in video calls getting information or replying to emails to get quotations and then inputting the information in our portal.

In the afternoon you will probably have some relaxed meetings before the weekend, and will have some spare hours to work on pending order requests. Perhaps a meeting with a supplier in the US, where you are going to spend 5 minutes comparing time zones before getting down to business, or a hectic meeting with a colleague with an urgent order request for an event that will be held that weekend. Either way, there will still be some things to solve before calling it a day.

You spend the final hour making sure that everything is logged correctly in the systems, including your timesheets for that week and any approvals you may have to do for the orders of the day and before you know it the day is over.
