If you have spent the past year reading return-to-office headlines while job boards label almost everything remote, it is hard to know which employers actually hire remotely at scale. Most lists of remote companies rely on reputation or on what employers say about their own policies. We took a different route and built the Top 100 Remote Employers 2026 from the active remote roles on Jobgether, weighted by how widely each company hires.
Every company on the list had active remote roles on Jobgether when the ranking was published, and no company can apply or pay to be included. The clearest finding is where that hiring sits. One in five of the companies hiring the most remotely on Jobgether are in healthcare and life sciences, not tech, and four of the top ten come from health. What follows is what the list says about where remote work lives in 2026, and how to turn a ranking into a sharper search.
How are the Top 100 Remote Employers ranked?
Companies are ranked by the number of active remote jobs they have on Jobgether, weighted by geographic accessibility. A role open worldwide carries the most weight, followed by regional, multi-country, single-country and state-level roles, so a company hiring across regions can outrank one with more roles limited to a single state.
That weighting changes the order in ways volume alone would not, which is why several companies with large numbers of open roles sit in the bottom half of the list. The ranking rewards reach, the part of a remote role that decides whether you can apply at all. Open-role counts also keep moving after publication, so the numbers on the page today will not always line up with the order.
Is remote work still mostly a tech industry story?
No. Software is still the largest group, with 17 SaaS companies, 9 in software, cloud and data and 10 in IT services, but healthcare is the biggest surprise of the 2026 list.
One in five companies on the list work in healthcare and life sciences. Nine are healthtech companies, such as Veeva Systems, Datavant and Gainwell Technologies. Seven are clinical research organizations that manage trials for drug and device companies, including Syneos Health, Parexel, IQVIA and ICON plc. Four more provide healthcare services, among them Radiology Partners, Talkiatry and Lyra Health, and health insurers such as Humana and Oscar Health also appear on the list under insurance.
Healthcare is also one of the least crowded places to apply. In September, roles in the healthcare and life sciences family drew 0.19 times the average applications per posting on Jobgether, the lowest of any role family in our Remote Work Index analysis. For a professional searching only within tech, that is a large and relatively quiet part of the market left unexplored.
Which companies lead the 2026 ranking?
Four of the top ten come from health. Canonical, Veeva Systems, Syneos Health, Nagarro, Binance, Precision Medicine Group, ElevenLabs, GitLab, Grafana Labs and Parexel lead the 2026 ranking, and Veeva Systems, Syneos Health, Precision Medicine Group and Parexel all work in healthtech or clinical research.
The rest of the top ten spans software, IT services, AI and fintech. A list built on hiring data rather than reputation looks noticeably different from the companies most people would name if asked where remote work happens, and that difference is where the opportunity sits for anyone willing to look past the obvious names.
Why are the biggest remote employers not the famous ones?
Because remote hiring volume and brand recognition rarely line up. Three of the top ten are clinical research organizations, Syneos Health, Precision Medicine Group and Parexel, and few job seekers outside life sciences would name them as major remote employers.
Further down the top 20, Nagarro and Ci&T in IT services and Sezzle in fintech sit alongside far better known names like HubSpot and Instacart. Lower visibility often means fewer people search for a company by name, which can give a strong profile a better chance of being read.
Which industries offer steady remote hiring beyond engineering?
Cybersecurity and fintech stand out. Ten cybersecurity companies made the 2026 list, including CrowdStrike, Wiz and SentinelOne, and nine fintech and financial services companies joined them, from Stripe to Affirm.
Both are industries where sales, finance, compliance and operations work sits alongside engineering, so they are worth checking even for professionals who do not write code. Our September data points the same way, with risk management and regulatory compliance among the skills gaining the most ground.
Does a remote job mean you can work from anywhere?
Usually not. In September 2026, 49.3% of new remote postings on Jobgether were open in a single country and 35.7% only in certain US states. Only 4% were open worldwide, and each one drew an estimated 8.8 times the average number of applications.
That is why the ranking gives more weight to companies hiring across regions, and why location requirements are the first thing to check when you open a company's roles. Not all remote opportunities are equally remote, and checking eligibility first keeps your effort on roles you can actually take.
How do you turn a ranking into a target list?
A ranking only helps if it changes what you do next. Start with the companies in your own industry, then add one adjacent industry where your experience still translates, such as a fintech leader looking at insurance or a healthcare operator looking at healthtech. Keep a short list of around ten companies where your background clearly fits.
From there, open each company's remote roles, check the location requirements first, and compare each role against your experience before deciding where to apply. Then learn what each company is working on and lead with the part of your track record that answers it. A direct message to the right hiring manager can go further than another application in the pile.
